Crow Canyon Archaeological Center Crow Canyon is a leader in archeological programs. Its main focus is the Pueblo Indians of the Four Corners region and its onsite research facilities foster understanding about the local Indians of today, as well as the past, providing conservation and preservation of the area’s historic sites. Crow Canyon has conducted two dozen archeological investigations in the Mesa Verde region, including Chaco Canyon (Mesa Verde National Park was one of our past Heritage Sites of the Month).
Upcoming International programs will feature such destinations as: Greece, Burma, Guatemala, South Africa and Mexico. The center’s dedication to education is a defining principle of its mission. Crow Canyon has a special week-long class for educators and offers a four-week institute, Cultural History in the American Southwest: Convergences and Crossroads, funded by the NEH. It also provides a number of school and field studies programs. Crow Canyon programs are a great way to learn about America’s native past from a scientific point of view. Sometimes culturally enriching travel can be close to home. — Sheri Leigh |
